Most people think of God as a rule-keeper or distant judge — but what if we’ve got Him all wrong? This post uncovers the truth about God’s heart: not angry or demanding, but wildly loving. ![]()
💡 A Journey from Fear to Love
Let’s be honest — talking about God can feel confusing, overwhelming, or even uncomfortable.
You hear one thing in church
️, something totally different from your friends
, and social media?
That’s a whole other world of opinions.
Sometimes it feels like everyone has an opinion about God, but no one really knows Him.
😨 The God I Was Told About
Growing up, I heard things like:
- “God is always watching you.”

- “You’d better be good or else…”

- “You’ve disappointed God again.”

- “You have to be perfect to be loved.”

So, I pictured God as this distant, disappointed judge in the sky — arms folded, constantly annoyed, always keeping score.
Prayer? Mostly just me saying, “I’m sorry” over and over.
I started to believe that God’s love was only for perfect people — the ones who never messed up or doubted.
Spoiler alert: I wasn’t one of them.
😲 The Twist I Didn’t Expect
Then I read something that completely flipped my view of God:
“God IS love.” — 1 John 4:8
Not: “God has love.”
Not: “God shows love when you earn it.”
Not: “God might love you if you’re good enough.”
But God IS love — that’s His identity, His essence, His nature.
And slowly, everything I thought I knew about God began to shift.
🤔 What If We’ve Got God All Wrong?
What if God isn’t:
Waiting to punish you
Scoring your performance
Only loving the “holy” ones
What if His love is:
Unshakable
Not based on behaviour
Already yours — even on your worst day?
